My name is Michael, and I'm currently a graduate student at the University of Colorado Boulder, working towards a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering. I received my Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering back in May 2024. I was also a part of the Bachelor’s Accelerated Master’s (BAM) program where I was able to take graduate-level coursework as an undergraduate student. I am originally from Oklahoma, but I’ve spent the majority of my life living across Colorado, such as Breckenridge, Thornton, and Boulder. I am a first-generation college student who chose to pursue engineering as I’ve always been driven by a desire to understand how things work and find better ways to build them. Growing up in Colorado, I was also surrounded by a thriving aerospace industry, which constantly inspired me to look upward—quite literally. The development of space exploration around me made the aerospace industry something I wanted to be a part of one day. Now I believe I’ve acquired the skills that would enable me to make meaningful contributions to various fields.My experiences are diverse and multidisciplinary. I have worked at small start-ups like Kelvin Thermal Technologies, where I fabricated and developed production processes for flexible vapor chambers. As a member of the Formula SAE team in Boulder, I contributed to powertrain and chassis components, including fabricating an air intake system and designing bellcranks. I have also taken several robotics classes, developing autonomous robots to compete in events like dodgeball. One of my most notable experiences was my senior capstone, sponsored by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), where I collaborated with a team of six to design, manufacture, and test a prototype Mars hexacopter chassis. I seek to build on this portfolio by taking on new engineering challenges to refine my skills and contribute to advancing technologies that benefit the world.
