Arrowhead Center strives to grow the innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem at New Mexico State University and in the surrounding region, with entrepreneurship education; technology development, incubation, and marketing; and the creation of a vibrant network of collaborators in these areas. As a member of the Arrowhead Center team, I: - Research the cutting edge in university-based economic development programs and worked to implement the best practices I discovered. For example, I was the lead author on a grant awarded to advance Native American entrepreneurship at NMSU (McCune Foundation, 2014; $15,000) and helped implement that work through a Native American student internship experience. - Served as the group's principal writer on tasks such as grant writing, drafting progress reports for our funders, generating web content, and providing updates to our stakeholders. For example, I was the lead author of two proposals chosen for award by the U.S. Economic Development Administration: an i6 Challenge award (2012; $2,000,000) and a University Center for Regional Commercialization award (2013; $500,000). - Collaborate with team members on designing and implementing program initiatives, from regional networking and connectivity to long-term planning to the development of curricula and learning materials for our clients. For example, I was instrumental in the creation of Arrowhead Innovation Network, a group collaborating on regional economic development, funded by the i6 Challenge program. - Participate in the creation of a number of large-scale strategic plans, both as members of writing teams and "idea" teams, including the Vice President for Economic Development's Strategic Business Plan; the Administration and Finance Strategic Plan; and the Extension, Service, and Outreach Strategic Plan

The Cultural Resource Management division provides services for federal and private entities throughout the U.S., ensuring compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act and National Environmental Policy Act in mitigation, monitoring, and curation of archaeological and historic resources.As a member of the Epsilon Systems team, I: - Draft and edit technical surveys and reports to ensure accuracy, coherency, and readability for a range of audiences - Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary group of colleagues, including archaeologists, historians, and cultural resource management specialists to ensure all facets of reporting are represented - Collaborate with team members to identify and share best practices in document preparation and execution

NMSU's Department of English is a touchstone for the NMSU student community, providing in instruction in rhetoric, composition, and professional writing; technical writing; literature; and creative writing. In addition to classroom instruction, the Department of English provides resources such as a Writing Center to the university communityAs a graduate assistant instructor and an adjunct instructor, I: - Served as the instructor of record for courses including Introduction to Rhetoric and Composition, Scientific and Technical Writing, Writing in the Humanities and Social Sciences, and Cultural Identity and Representation Across the Media. This work involved lecture preparation and delivery, student conferencing, assignment creation and grading, and all aspects of classroom management and administration. - Worked as a tutor in and a graduate assistant coordinator of the Writing Center. As a tutor, I worked one-on-one with clients from the university student and staff community on writing assignments and tasks. As a coordinator, I trained and mentored incoming tutors, conducted orientations for potential clients, and planned and facilitated workshops for students (focusing on the writing process) and tutors (focusing on professional development).

Department Of Anthropology

Under the direction of Dr. Scott Rushforth (Professor, Cultural and Linguistic Anthropology), I collaborated on a number of initiatives and projects focused on linguistic and cultural preservation with the Mescalero Apache Tribe (Mescalero, NM). With Dr. Rushforth and various tribal partners, I: - Assisted with research, development, drafting, and editing of regional and federal grants to support preservation efforts. For example, I was a co-author on a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services Native American/Native Hawaiian Museum Services (2005; $20,000) for enhancements to the Mescalero Apache Cultural Center and a grant from the Administration for Native Americans (2005; $520,000) for a Mescalero Apache language preservation project. - Assisted with implementation and administration of awarded grants, including tracking of stated objectives and drafting of program progress reports submitted to funding agencies.
