I lead action-oriented research and impact initiatives that focus on equitable access to new career opportunities for adult learner -- and I particularly love when this work involves connecting the dots across issue areas. I have special expertise in credit for prior learning (CPL), a practice that recognizes and rewards the skills and knowledge that adult learners acquire outside of formal education settings.Communicating new ideas and research findings has been an important part of my work history -- and of the teams that I manage and influence. I have written and presented extensively on topics such as postsecondary innovations, workforce development policy and practice, closing racial-ethnic equity gaps, corporate talent development strategies, industry-education partnerships, the future of work, and the labor market relevance of credentials. I also co-authored the book Never Too Late: The Adult Student's Guide to College (New Press, 2018). One of my passions is policy, because I believe we can achieve more and at a larger scale by addressing policy and system change needs. I love opportunities to promote federal and state policy changes that support lifelong learning, talent development, and more inclusive and equitable workforce and educational ecosystems.
