Member of the CA 3Tera AppLogic cloud computing platform team. AppLogic is a turnkey cloud-computing platform for scalable applications and web services built on standard commodity hardware which eliminates the binding of software to hardware through virtualization. Developed and maintained the command line interface component (CLI). The CLI consisted of a command shell and a number of object-based Perl and C utilities that allowed users to retrieve information and maintain their grid, servers, volumes, users, components, and applications. Researched, designed, and implemented changes to CLI to be i18n compliant using gettext. Resources were translated into 6 different languages including Japanese, Chinese, German, Italian, French and Spanish.Desinged and developed the metering system used to collect customer grid usage information and generate reports used for billing purposes. Grids reported data to the metering system using SSH and/or HTTPS.

Managed an autonomous engineering group responsible for the design and development of the system management infrastructure for Z-force’s file switch product. System management infrastructure consisted of maintaining system configuration database, specification and development of command-line interface (CLI), specification and development of services that provide logon access to the CLI through Telnet and serial port.Oversaw the specification, design, planning (including resource allocation), and quality for all projects developed within the group.Successfully executed all assigned projects on time and within budget with up to three projects in development simultaneously and 1–3 engineers working on each project.Responsible for interviewing and hiring all members of my team. • Z-Force, Inc.
    Staff Engineer
    Z-Force, Inc. Apr 2000 - Jun 2001
    Costa Mesa, California
Designed and developed a no-copy TCP/IP stack in VxWorks that provided 80% of a standard TCP/IP stack functionality and provided better performance than that provided by VxWorks.Evolved and maintained the company’s core technology, the Z-force Dragon Cross Development Platform and Part Library, which consists of 250,000+ lines of code. Activities included design and implementation of new features, implementation of changes necessary to support new environments and architectures, servicing of software change requests, QA, as well as preparation of documentation and release image.Ported Z-force Dragon from x86 architecture to MIPS architecture. Issues involved were the use of a new compiler, data alignment, and internal data representation. Produced a document that provides suggestions that are helpful in aiding any software engineer in developing software that is easily portable to new environments (preferably without changes). Specified and developed an XDL assembly preprocessor that is used to parse and pre-process a Z-force assembly source file with the goal of providing new extensions to the existing Z force assembly support without having to modify assembly source files.Specified and developed a command-line compiler for the XDL language, which is distributed as part of the Z force Dragon Cross Development Platform. The XDL compiler generates an object file given an XDL assembly source file using an external C preprocessor, compiler, and XDL assembly processor. Led a team of 3 engineers in planning and developing a performance framework to measure and report CPU utilization, data throughput, and processing time within an application built using Z-force Dragon.
  • Object Dynamics
    Lead Software Engineer
    Object Dynamics Mar 1996 - Apr 2000
    Costa Mesa, California
Solely designed, developed and delivered a Windows 95/NT port monitor that implements a NetBIOS/SMB client in order to transmit print job data to Canon Information Systems’ NIB/NEB printers over a LAN.Designed and developed a printer queue management software component that locates Canon printers on a network and allows management of the printers’ queues and jobs. The software was distributed as part of Canon Information Systems’ GP-series Queue Manager for Microsoft Networks.Led a team of 3 engineers in the specification, development and delivery of a Windows 95/98/NT printer driver and language/port monitor that provides custom color image and image metafile processing and a bi-directional communication interface over a proprietary reliable delivery protocol for Mag-Tek’s MT1000 Card Printer.Led a team of 2 engineers in the specification, development and delivery of a Windows 95/98/NT kernel-mode communication driver for Mag-Tek’s suite of magnetic stripe reader, check reader, and intelliPIN devices. The driver supported 15+ devices using 3 communication mechanisms: RS-232, IEEE 1284, and USB. Solely designed, developed, and delivered a Windows 9x/NT kernel-mode driver that parsed, formatted and fed data received from Mag-Tek devices directly into an application as a set of keystrokes as if the user had actually typed the data.Developed a remote login service that provided Windows NT user login and authentication as well as VT100 terminal emulation of a Windows console through Telnet or serial port. The service was included as part of a package of components used to convert Windows NT into a high-performance embedded operating system for Toshiba America’s DSS Controller.
