I am the editor of PLAY magazine, one of WA's top arts and entertainment-focused publications which is distributed with The West Australian every Saturday. I love curating content that speaks to our diverse audience and working with a talented team to bring a compelling and varied magazine to readers each week.I began my journalism career at The Albany Advertiser in 2006, moving to the West Australian in 2007. I started out as a cadet and quickly moved into feature writing for West Weekend Magazine. By 2010, I joined the legal affairs team, covering some of the most complex and rewarding stories of my early career.In 2012, I took a leap internationally and joined China Daily working across Beijing and Shanghai as a Senior Sub-Editor and Feature Writer. This role allowed me to immerse myself in Chinese culture while contributing to the country’s leading English-language newspaper. I focused on editing and crafting features that resonated with both local and international audiences. Outside work, I threw myself into experiencing Chinese culture, eating the food and learning Mandarin Chinese. Chinese history and culture remains a major interest of mine. Returning to Australia in 2016, I became the editor of STM, one of the nation’s top lifestyle magazines. Leading a team, pushing creative boundaries and building up the product's digital offerings was a fantastic experience. After my time at STM, I joined The Sunday Times as a Senior Writer, where I covered a broad spectrum of stories—from breaking news to in-depth features and columns for the newspaper and STM. My educational background includes a degree in media and information from Curtin University. Early in my career, I interned at CNN’s United Nations bureau in New York and The Dubliner magazine in Dublin, Ireland. I speak conversational Mandarin and Danish, cook a lot of Chinese food (and occasionally a Danish meatball), sing off-key and read as much as time allows.
