Hi, I’m Ben!I’m proud to lead The Safeguarding Group - working with organisations big and small on all things Safeguarding, Behaviour and Welfare Leadership.Personally, I’m a teacher, consultant and trainer with a focus on humanism, behavioural change and (unsurprisingly) safeguarding.I specialise in understanding where behavioural challenges and vulnerability emerge from (both individually and organisationally) and how our actions as professionals or managers can dramatically affect this.I’m available for discussions and consultations on behaviour, safeguarding and barriers to learning across all levels of education. I am also available to consult/train on organisational change management and cultural transformation.I’d love to connect and meet new likeminded professionals. Our network is a massively powerful tool, especially when it comes to child protection and vulnerable people. Get in touch!

I managed a small team of support workers who completed this work with me in line with agreed and structured education plans designed to re-engage disaffected young people.Prior to my appointment to this role and alongside it I was also seconded to an interim 6 month role as East Kent’s Integrated Resettlement Service Co-ordinator. I was also a Key Worker for one particular child and so was responsible for ensuring all their files and documentation was present, up to date and correct whilst acting as the primary advocate for their future. Using these and an in depth personal knowledge of their vulnerabilities, strengths and behaviours I aimed to guide their development through some of the trickiest years of their life.I spent half of my working life assigned to one of the 8 houses on site looking after the children in their daily lives. My particular area of knowledge is education and so it was my role to ensure that the young people were given the opportunity to learn new skills whether at school or around the house. The other half of my role was spent at the attached Caldecott School. Within this role I worked in close partnership with the Head of Behaviour and Student Support Coordinators. Practically this includes support for Teachers and T.A’s to keep good order in the learning environment, whether through the implementation of a leftfield curriculum to inspire and engage, 1 to 1 work with individuals or in the worst case situations physically intervening for the safety of all involved.Whether supporting their education or caring for them in a residential setting the eventual goal was a smooth transition to fostering, back to their parents or on to a positive, independent life beyond care.
