Dr. Ben Biddulph was appointed as the inaugural Chief Primary Industries Scientist at the Department of Primary industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) in 2021. As a key member of the Primary Industries Leadership team Ben coordinates and supports research across the Western Australian grains, farming systems, livestock, horticulture, and aquaculture teams at the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD). Prior to this appointment, Ben spent over twenty years leading, managing, and delivering research throughout regional WA and nationally on issues affecting primary producer’s production and profitability. Ben’s focus had been in agronomic and genetic research into abiotic stress tolerance of cereals. Demonstrating a profound passion for advancing primary industries science, research, and development, Ben brings a wealth of experience in leadership, management, and successful delivery of research initiatives throughout regional WA and nationally.
