Leaving school with minimal qualifications and growing up in a council estate, I faced a challenging start to life, but I always held on to the belief that I could turn my circumstances around. From a young age, I watched my parents work tirelessly to make ends meet, and their determination inspired me to adopt a strong work ethic of my own. While many of my peers were focused on leisure and carefree activities, I prioritised seeking part-time jobs during my teenage years. Whether it was working in a local mushroom farm or doing odd jobs for neighbours, I learned the value of hard work and the sense of accomplishment that comes from earning my own money. These experiences not only helped me develop essential life skills but also taught me lessons in responsibility and resilience. I was acutely aware that my background didn’t define my future; rather, it fueled my desire to strive for something greater. Each paycheck became a step towards independence and a way to invest in my dreams. I saved diligently, knowing that education, despite my lack of formal qualifications, was still attainable through alternative paths like vocational training and self-study. My early jobs also built my confidence, allowing me to hone my interpersonal skills and adaptability in various work environments. In retrospect, those formative years shaped my ambition and created a solid foundation that would ultimately propel me towards success. I resolved to carve out a future that was vibrant and fulfilling, no matter the obstacles I faced along the way.
