Research And Development Intern
Current- Researched novel materials for use in gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) for lithium-ion batteries. Designed and conducted experiments to determine effect of GPE material on electrochemical cell performance.
- Developed a computational model to calculate voltage drop across current collector as a function of thickness to determine thickness effect on cell performance.
- Optimized parameters for a UV laser to cut and ablate lithium-ion electrodes across various thicknesses and chemistries for creation of R&D scale pouch cells. Scanning electron microscopy was used to analyze the effect.
Undergraduate Student Researcher
Lab of Dr. Kyu Yong Choi- Simulated polymer reactions in MATLAB to investigate how reaction conditions affect the molecular weight distribution of the product, and how that distribution evolves with time under transient reaction conditions- Derived kinetic modeling equations for continuous reactors using a known model for batch reactors, solving equations.
Undergraduate Student Researcher
Lab of Dr. Dongxia Liu- Researched recycling plastic using zeolite catalysts- Conducted literature reviews to inform research direction- Designed equipment and operating procedures with a team for the bench-top pyrolysis of plastic waste- Conducted pyrolysis reactions, and analyzing composition of liquid and vapor products using gas chromatography- Used IR.
Undergraduate Teaching Fellow
CHBE442 - Process ControlsCHBE444 - Process Design
Route Setter
- Set climbing routes at the UMD climbing wall and performed maintenance- Instructed new staff members on the basics of setting- Provided feedback to setters on routes
