I am a Partner within EY’s audit practice with more than 20 years of experience working in the financial services and insurance sector. EY is the only major professional services firm with an integrated Financial Services practice operating across the EMEIA region. Our insurance practice is core to this. As a Partner within this practice, I was responsible for several significant engagements across both the general insurance and life sectors - providing a broad range of assurance, advisory and transaction related services, including process and control reviews and accounting change, to both listed and large private company experience. I have extensive experience of leading large and multi-disciplinary teams. I also have significant industry experience, most recently from a secondment to a large listed insurer which included a period of time as Chief Accounting Officer. In this role I led the finance function through a time of significant change and helped design best practices and controls over external reporting. I am an insurance industry expert with extensive knowledge of IFRS, MCEV and UK GAAP, in addition to Solvency II and IFRS 17. In October 2018 I decided to leverage these skills and experiences in a new environment by accepting a long-term secondment to EY's Johannesburg office, helping to build out the firm's insurance capabilities and take advantage of opportunities in the financial services market. I returned to the UK insurance audit practice in September 2021 following the end of my secondment. I am a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.
