Run an circular mixed farm in Aberdeenshire with my partner Harriet Lowe. The business runs a medium scale arable, medium scale pig enterprise, commercial and residential property. Our arable land is focused on supplying feed and straw to the pig business. The pig enterprise running breeding stock running from farrowing to finishes all on site. The business focus is to close the loop, with both enterprises benefiting each other with more sustainable crop growth with manure used to drastically reduce fertiliser requirements. We also run a number of enviromental schemes which benefits the wider area and works alongside our arable cropping. Our focus is carbon foot printing, bench marking and finding ways to meet the needs of our customers.

Hold a Basis Diploma in Agronomy. Now working as an agent for Agrovista, my time part of the HB Farming business but products supplied by Agrovista. Looking to develop a loyal customer base, provide a service which benefits growers by developing their businesses together with efficient, practical and sustainable services. Agrovista has given me the ability to work closely with leading agricultural agronomists and precision farming specialists.

Studying towards passing BASIS Agriculture. Shadow experienced agronomists and undertake training in commercial skills. Technical training including visits to service providers, manufacturers of machinery, seed and chemicals.

Started business with small capital input, obtaining livestock, land and tools. Increasing value of primary products and selling as lamb boxes directly to public. Requiring careful and precise management between rearing of livestock while meeting demand of meat to consumers.

Responsible for outdoor operations including 4 acre market garden, grading of 120 tons of potatoes, 500 free range laying hens. Worked closely within a team during main events such as Christmas, Halloween and Easter within managing public, logistics and entertainment, while ensuring the core business maintained operation.

Undertook all practical tasks upon the farm, including potato planting, potato harvesting, combining, irrigation and potato desiccation with chemical application. When working on potato harvester, management of 5 colleague working upon the machine was essential to maintain safety and efficiency. Could discuss management decisions with farm manager to fully understand objectives of business.

Worked within a team undertaking all practical operations upon the farm, with most interested in new technology's and machinery utilised upon the farm. Worked within the workshop altering machinery and understanding of basic engineering. Under took work experience and holiday work from the age of 14 at any given opportunity.

Responsible for unloading lorries in evenings, checking produce and customer service, including relief till operator. Undertook full responsibility for the bakery on a Sunday which required baking fresh goods, stock control, cleanliness, packaging and labeling goods.
