I prepare 45-60 minute lessons to classes of up to 35 students where I teach small business principles in the Spanish language. In addition, I have the opportunity to visit with clients one-on-one to provide consultation for their individual businesses and needs. I provide education and expertise helping clients to increase business and household income.In addition, I work closely with leaders of organizations such as Mentors International, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and other local organizations to organize classes, coordinate efforts, and strengthen communities.With this has come the amazing opportunity to expand my understanding of Mexican culture, specifically that of the state of Yucatan. This through attending events such as Paseo de las Animas, cultural dance presentations, etc.

As Artistic Director, I have the pleasure of creating ballroom dance choreography for over 30 students at both recreational and competitive levels. I share my enthusiasm for the performing arts and encourage the students to achieve their goals and enjoy dancing.As part of this role, I have had the unique opportunity to provide instruction through virtual means. This instruction has stretched me as an instructor and teacher.

As a student mentor I had the opportunity to review and provide feedback for resumes, cover letters, CVs, and LinkedIn and Handshake profile pages. I provided advice for career fairs, job applications, interviews, as well as academic advice. During this time, I was able to help several students secure internships and professional positions.As part of this position, I also had the opportunity to help career coaches, academic advisors, and other professional staff with special projects, presentations, and assignments.

As an inventory specialist I had a lot of flexibility to learn new skills and experience what it is like to work in other major departments of a company. I worked with my supervisor to create a training plan which included cross-training with accounting, data analytics, and other departments.During this cross-training, I was able to apply what I learned in my data analytics courses at USU to learn to extract data from our database using SQL. With this data I then learned to put that data in Excel and compile it in a format that could be presented. This learning also helped me to enhance my skills to automate data reporting. This helped to relieve work off of our one-man data analytics team and removed user error in data reporting. This allowed the inventory manager to more powerfully represent the efforts of our department.I was also tasked with being the second in line when my supervisor was gone from work. This gave me valuable experience with leading teams and problem solving. Many times I had to answer difficult questions with little information or training on the subject.

I loved the opportunity that I had to go to Las Vegas and share my beliefs with the people that live there. This experience was difficult, culturally enriching, and changed my life. I was responsible for learning to speak Spanish in order to teach 5 different lessons. After 6 weeks of training in Mexico I moved to Las Vegas and began teaching. Between speaking with people in Spanish and 30 minutes of language study daily, I was able to learn to speak Spanish is 6 months.During my time as a missionary, I met and taught individuals from more than 14 different countries around the world. I taught people from all different cultures, religions, socioeconomic backgrounds, and traditions. I learned to love the people and loved every opportunity I had to serve them.During my time in Las Vegas, I was able to serve as a leader for groups of volunteers. Usually 4-5 companionships and/or 3-4 districts of companionships. This time as a formally assigned leader taught me how to care for those I lead.
