ITC is a joint agency of the World Trade Organization and the United Nations whose mission is to foster sustainable economic development and contribute to achieving the Millennium Development Goals in developing countries and transition economies through trade and international business development.My roles and responsibilities have included:- Conducting secondary and primary research in order to support project design and evidence based sector development work in Ghana (Yam and associated crops), Zimbabwe (Engineering, Iron and Steel) and Fiji (Livestock and Livestock products); with a focus on gender impact.- Supporting project implementation activities including; distance support to multi-stakeholder governance processes and direct interaction with stakeholders and counterparts in order to coordinate field activities, report and monitor progress and compile and prepare inputs and outputs for our projects in Ghana, Fiji and Zimbabwe.- Organising and facilitating a week of meetings, presentations and conferences in Geneva between counterparts for our Ghana project; including representatives from the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI), Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MOGCSP), Yam Development Council, International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and the private sector.- Presented on the topics of ‘Global Value Chains and Innovation’ to members of the Sector Competitiveness team, to facilitate discussions around a more effective approach to sector development within ITC.- Awarded the responsibility to manage fundraising operations for the Manufactured Products team; including the proposal writing to private foundations for grants exceeding $2 million; required research in value chain analysis, trade facilitation, agricultural development, food security and gender empowerment.- Completed ITC’s SME Trade Academy E-learning course ‘Introductory Programme on Trade Development’ to an average grade of over 90%.

Retrak is an international NGO (charity/non-profit) that works with street children in Uganda, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Malawi to provide them with support to enable them to find a better alternative to life on the streets.My roles and responsibilities included:- Identifying new funding sources from Trusts and Foundations based in the United States through collaboration with Retrak’s US office, in order to support project implementation in Retrak’s operating countries, with a special focus upon Ethiopia and Malawi.- Working alongside the International Partnerships and Grants Officer to produce and submit high quality proposals to secure both restricted and unrestricted funding, commonly exceeding $500,000.- Identifying suitable programmes and projects to present to donors in consultation with the relevant Retrak field staff in Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Malawi.- Maintaining a tracking system for grants to ensure organisational awareness of contractual obligations relating to funds both awarded and requested.- Maintaining an overview of the relevant country contexts both in terms of the wider context as well as the donor context and shared the information with other members of staff as appropriate.- Maintaining awareness and understanding of trends, legislation and Institute of Fundraising best practice guidance in relation to trust fundraising whilst supporting the department with various information management tasks, such as donor reporting and providing advice and support on fundraising activities to the fundraising team.
