In this role I applied my stakeholder engagement skills, while developing skills and knowledge in policy and program design. I quickly integrated into the team and led research on alternative protein policy, conducted data analysis and prepared case studies for policy documents As part of the State Government’s COVID-19 response, collated offers of industry assistance and conducted eligibility assessments for business, agricultural workforce and international student support programs. Achievements• Lead data analysis, draft and complied the annual Victorian Food and Fibre Export Performance Report 2019-2020• Worked with senior public servants as the secretariat for the Whole of Victorian Government non-health Personal Protective Equipment Taskforce as part of the COVID-19 response.• . I brought together key stakeholders to develop the policy case for potential investment in a small-scale food manufacturing pilot facility and helped facilitate venture capital investments.

I developed excellent skills in:• understanding customer needs to create positive customer experiences; • negotiating positive outcomes for multiple stakeholders within policy and budget constraints• engaging with difficult customers; • managing internal and external stakeholder relationships; • managing human (farm irrigation designer) resources; • developing written communications for multiple audiences, ranging from farmers to board members; and• water distribution and irrigation system design.Achievements• Finalised landowner agreements in an $8M strategic project area, that had been previously stalled for four years.

I developed stakeholder engagement, project management and social research skills while leading small project teams and conducting social or market research projects in the agricultural and environmental fields. I conducted seminars and workshops on consumer behaviour and marketing theory adoption of agricultural innovations within branches of the department. I also supervising direct reports and undertook procurement of call centre survey work via competitive process. Project conducted included: • Researching dairy farmers’ behaviour in response to drought to inform Dairy Australia’s service, extension and information strategy. • Conducting a mixed methodology study on the adoption of soil carbon sequestration practices by landholders for the Future Farming Systems Research division of the department. • Developing and contracting out a survey on farmers’ reasons for growing grain in Gippsland to inform DEPI’s extension investment in the region.• Analysing the water trading behaviour of irrigators in the Goulburn Valley, to develop market segments using cluster analysis.• Developing a theoretical paper on the role of market segmentation in the implementation of the department’s Better Services to Farmers strategy. Achievements• Presented multiple papers, for example, 2010 Australian Pacific Extension Network (APEN) conference and Practical Responses to Climate Change National Conference 2012.
