Project Manager for the 37 day occupation to remove North Road, Ormond, McKinnon Road, McKinnon and Centre Road, Bentleigh level crossings on the Frankston line.This occupation was the biggest occupation event in Melbourne since the construction of the City Loop in the 1980s and involved up to 1,000 workforce per shift. Myself and two other Project Managers were responsible for 24 hour round the clock management of the occupation.During the 37 days we:1. Removed 500,000 tonnes of earth in 6 days2. Constructed two base slabs at McKinnon and Bentleigh totalling 1,200m in length and around 5 acres in area.3. Poured 35,000m3 of concrete in 2 weeks4. Built the entire McKinnon Station and opened it for operation5. Substantially constructed Ormond and Bentleigh stations6. Constructed the new railway line and handed it back for operation7. Transported 750,000 passengers on replacement busses.

Led the John Holland tender for the Dandenong Rail Corridor (DRC) Modifications project, a $200m+ project involving corridor wide upgrades on the Dandenong Line as part of the Rail Transformation Consortium proposal to the State, including:1. Construction of a 66km long combined services route2. Installation of an updated conventional signalling scheme for the corridor3. Junction rationalisations of Southern Cross, Flinders Street, Caulfield, Oakleigh and Dandenong to segregate the Caulfield Local lines from adjacent corridors4. Platform extensions and modifications to each platform along the corridor to support the introduction of new rolling stockWe were nominated as preferred contractor but the project was cancelled by the State government on 31 March 2015.

Mitcham And Rooks Road Alliance

The Mitcham Level Crossing Removals project was the first grade separation project to remove two level crossings simultaneously.The $197 million project was delivered by the Mitcham and Rooks Road Alliance including VicRoads, PTV, Metro, John Holland and KBR. It involved design and construction works over 1.8km between Nunawading and Mitcham to provide open roads, a new premium train station and an integrated transport hub.Achieved in a record timeframe, it eliminated long-standing commuter gridlock, facilitated more reliable transport and improved safety for road and rail users, pedestrians and cyclists. The project was awarded in May 2013 with a requirement to complete a major 3 week occupation in January 2014. The Alliance's greatest achievement was the successful completion of the 3 week occupation on 25 January 2014 to handback a completed railway line and an operating station and transport interchange.Practical completion was achieved on 19 May 2014 against a planned date of 30 June 2014.I was the Rail Construction Manager and member of the AMT, responsible for the rail components of the project, including the track, overhead wire, signalling and operational control systems.I also acted as Alliance Manager when the Alliance Manager was on leave.

Overall responsibility for successful delivery of projects including the Missing Link project, Victorian Passing Lanes and Concrete Resleepering which were all part of the South Improvement Alliance upgrades undertaken by ARTC.Responsibility for all safety, quality, environmental and commercial outcomes.The Missing Link project was a $38m upgrade of rail infrastructure in the Port precinct of Melbourne to provide improved flexibility and reliability of freight operations to and from Melbourne Port. It involved significant stakeholder liaison as well as a 4 week commissioning period over Christmas 2009.Victorian Passing Lanes involved the construction of 7km long Passing Loops on the Sydney - Melbourne interstate line. Management of a difficult civil subcontractor including significant commercial and contractual management to protect the Alliance's commercial exposure.The concrete resleepering undertaken on the Seymour to Somerton section of the network was the first to be undertaken with the side insertion method developed specifically for the SIA. The job was a $19m project which inserted 107,000 sleepers on the main interstate line.
