Studied hydrogen storage and catalysis in Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) We performed a high throughput study of hydrogen storage materials to quantify design targets for the next generation of hydrogen storage materials. We assembled and simulated hydrogen storage in thousands of hypothetical MOFs. From this we trained a neural network capable of predicting hydrogen loadings at multiple T, P conditions by utilizing simple material properties as input. With this neural network, we found that the storage pressure of these hydrogen storage systems can likely be decreased by as much as 3 times with only a 3% loss in performance. Additionally, we characterized the interfaces of MOF-Nanoparticle catalysts using density functional theory. We screened hundreds of candidate surfaces to determine changes in the electronic structure of the catalyst as well as utilizing existing correlations to quantify changes in catalytic activity. I developed and built the experimental setup including a rework of the existing data acquisition system in Labview. My day to day work involved performing experiments and analysis as well as technical reporting to my mentors and management. In that time, I was able to evaluate the material performance and characterize the operational limits of the device.
