A leader within the Government and Public Sector consulting practice, responsible for selling, managing and delivering technology enabled projects to Government clients.Key Achievements- Account leader for the Defence Technology practice- Led the development of many business cases for major technology capabilities across Government, including all of Defence transformations and Whole of Government technology transformations- Led the development of a whole of portfolio ICT inventory capability for a major Government clientLed the delivery of an independent project review of a major ICT project.

Ben was responsible for advising on and leading the development of Business Cases to support Government decision making, including procurement and acquisition strategy, requirements and tender development, evaluation and negotiation.Ben was also a technology leader within Proximity, and was responsible for leading many internal technology projects. Ben developed business intelligence, automation and business management systems for both internal and client use, utilising a number of technology platforms including PowerBI, Microsoft Flows and Sharepoint.Key Achievements- Contracted to PwC to lead a team developing a Gate 0 and Gate 2 business case at Defence’s Chief Information Officer Group for the Applications Remediation ProjectManaged a PwC team responsible to Defence’s Chief Information Officer Group in the preparation and approval of a real cost increase business case for the Terrestrial Communications Project.- Led an organisational review of the Australian Tax Office’s Law Design and Practice Group, comprising of approximately 1,200 staff- Provided support to the Defence Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group’s Performance Based Contracting Centre of Expertise in the development of performance management frameworks- Provided support to Icon Water’s procurement and business case development for a replacement asset management system. In particular, Ben designed and managed the process for reference checks on similar implementations, as well as providing assistance in quantitative risk analysis.

Responsibilities- Delivering projects and programs providing technology enabled transformations to the Government sector.Key Achievements - Led the development of the business case for a large IT procurement at the Department of Defence, including providing subject matter expertise in Government and Cabinet processes; and- Managed a project supporting the procurement of a critical IT system involving all State and Territory Police agencies.

Responsibilities- Liaising and briefing on intelligence agency issues;- Coordinating major intelligence and security related legislative reforms, and- Providing support, advice and briefings on oversight mechanisms.Key Achievements - Led the development of various aspects of the National Security Legislation Amendment Act (No. 1);- Awarded an Australia Day Medallion at the 2013 Australia Day celebrations for work in security aspects of irregular maritime arrivals;- Policy development and implementation of the Independent Reviewer of Adverse Security Assessments, and- Provided support responding to High Court cases challenging adverse security assessments.

Responsibilities - Coordinated Departmental comments on Cabinet documents, and - Prepared briefing for senior management and Ministers for Cabinet meetings. Key Achievements - Coordinated briefing with the Secretary and other senior executives from various areas of the Department.

Responsibilities - Policy development on: disability access to premises standards, non-building premises issues, access to information and review of standards. Key Achievements - Co-ordinated the signing, tabling and launch of the Disability (Access to Premises Buildings) Standards 2010, and- Represented the Commonwealth at various meetings with stakeholders, including the Commonwealth Senior Property Officers Forum, Standards Australia meetings and Building Code Committee Officers Group.

Rotations in Human Rights, Telecommunications and Surveillance Law and Private International Law. Key Achievements - Developed public consultation process for proposed amendments to the Telecommunications (Interceptions and Access) Act, and - Assisted in drafting explanatory documents for complex legislation implementing the Trans-Tasman Court Proceedings and Regulatory Enforcement Treaty.

Key Achievements- Developed a tailored Human Resource Information System;- Assisted in the international transfer of employees; and - Developed database solutions for various business areas and for clients.
