About Ben Sheath

An experienced Strength and Conditioning Coach currently working with Senior Olympic athletes.I have previously managed and developed S&C strategies for developmental athletes performing Nationally and Internationally. As part of my current and previous roles I have designed and implemented communities of practice relating to aspirational and developmental practitioners, supporting their professional and personal development.     I lead the Senior Olympic Women’s S&C provision within GB Rowing. As part of my role I’m also responsible for coach and programme support and education to high performance clubs and programmes within the GB Rowing network.Key Responsibilities:- Design and implementation of an elite strength and conditioning programme to compliment the broader programme aims and objectives in conjunction with the Head Coach and other practitioners. - Manage and interpret frequent diagnostics, testing and monitoring to aid programme design and decision making both on an individual and group level. - Work closely with the Physio and Sports Science team to provide individualised rehabilitation support as well as proactive and targeted injury prevention strategies. - Work closely with the coaching staff to ensure S&C philosophy and practice is aligned to key technical components of the sport and programme. - Support key high performing programmes, coaches and practitioners, maintaining philosophical alignment to GB Rowing S&C best practice. This includes the design, management and leadership of a community of practice as well as large scale workshops. The role requires high degrees of strategic thinking, collaborative practice and continued high operational standards. Continued personal and professional development is essential, with a breadth of knowledge important to operate successfully as part of the Sports Science and Sports Medicine MDT. All work is grounded in genuine relationships, both athlete and staff, with clarity of vision and consistency of approach.
