Ben Short joined AREA Real Estate Advisors in 2013 as an associate retail broker specializing in tenant and landlord representation. Ben is a native of Kansas City, but spent nearly 7 years managing the Les Bourgeois Bistro in Columbia, MO. He decided to get into commercial real estate to help with the development of Paragon Star in Lee’s Summit, MO. Ben’s desire to continually grow in the real estate world is driven by his love for conducting thorough research. Ben’s background in research and restaurants is what leads him toward his focus areas.Responsibilities include:-Develop new business primarily through in-person contacts, phone calls, canvassing and follow-up -Presentations to those who influence decisions and decision-makers and schedule face-to-face contact with prospective candidates requiring real estate needs-Report and update supervisor on calling program status; clients met, potential deals being generated, issues/concerns, and next steps-Develop, maintain and cultivate excellent client and agent relationships.-Promote new business and/or renewal business to achieve production/market criteria as defined by Broker with little or no supervision.-Contact and meet regularly with other real estate professionals including developers, appraisers, landlords and brokers.-Provide clients with industry and market specific information as it relates to their business and maintain contact information on prospects.

Worked hard and received promotions from starting position as a host to a busboy, bartender and waiter. Qualified to do the work and side work of all these positions in a single shift. Responsibilities include:-Oversee and manage all areas of the restaurant and make final decisions on guest service issues-Investigate and resolve food quality and service complaints-Communicates with guests and employees to solve problems and ensure complete satisfaction-Inspect dining room, food receiving, preparation, production, and storage areas to ensure health and safety regulations are being adhered to at all times-Supervise cleaning and maintenance of equipment and arranges for repairs, contracts, and other services-Maintain appropriate restaurant image, including restaurant cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards-Ensure good safety practices of employees and guests throughout the restaurant-Ensure the receipt of all orders to verify correct quantities and pricing-Review financial information such as sales and costs and monitor budgets to ensure efficient operation and that expenditures stay within budget limitations-Responsible for ensuring that all financial (invoices, reporting) and employee and payroll related administrative duties are completed accurately, on time and in accordance with company policies and procedures -Provide direction to employees regarding operational and procedural issues-Interview, select and hire hourly employees-Develop employees by providing ongoing feedback, establishing performance expectations and by conducting performance reviews-Prepares schedules and ensure that the restaurant is staffed for all shifts
