I was responsible for the corporate and fund accounting for the Private Equity division of Henderson Group plc, which managed 6 core funds, focussing on Infrastructure, Asian expansion capital and fund of funds. Total AUM for the business was around £1bn. My key responsibilities were:o Overseeing the management and statutory reporting for the Private Equity business, including preparation of annual budgets and forecasts for the business and plans for new business strategies. o Reporting on the Private Equity funds managed by the business, both statutory accounts and financial information for quarterly reporting to investors. All fund administration was performed in house, including tax reporting.o Reporting for a number of portfolio companies liaising with administrators in local jurisdictions including Jersey, Luxembourg, Mauritius and Hong Kong. o Maintaining carry models for the funds and reviewing all profit share calculations, fund drawdowns and distributions.o Reviewing the valuations of investments on a periodic basis, including attending the portfolio monitoring committee meetings at which valuations are approved. o Managing a small team of qualified staff and reporting directly to the Managing Director.o Ensuring the business complied with all relevant regulations, assessing impact of key compliance developments, including AIFMD and FATCA, and implementing necessary changes. o Assisting investment teams on investments and divestments, including on preparations for the UK listing of an investee company.o Managing the accounting for a listed Investment Trust invested in listed and unlisted Private Equity funds and assisting with the run off of the Trust.o Leading the liquidation of fully realised funds and the run off of the business being the principal contact for the group on all private equity matters.
