As a Code Compliance Officer, I work with property owners, business owners, and contractors to help them understand city codes and, if not they area not in compliance with the city ordinances, I help them to become compliant by providing clarification on what is needed and working with them in a timely manner to help them accomplish this task. This is a self-managing position where I must see that schedules and deadlines are kept, for both myself and those I am working with. Good customer service skills are extremely useful and beneficial, especially in the face of a contentious resident, business owner, or contractor. Good and clear communication, both internal and external and in various forms, is a key role in this position.

I balance every day and every job to address problems needing attention by prioritizing each job by order and/or urgency. I know and understanding how large and small heating, ventalation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems work in residential and commercial applications, refrigeration systems, installation and start-up of equipment in new construction buildings, as well as replacement of old and worn out equipment on/in existing buildings. With this knowlege and experience I respond to problems reported by customers with technical equipment and perform troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing of electrical and mechanical equipment and systems.

I assisted the owner of the company in estimations and installations of doors and windows in residential applications where we were contracted by Lowes. After 2 years I started running a crew of my own doing the same things. During that time, I also learned how the company operated and I would run the day to day operations of the company during the times when the owner was on vacation or out of town, all while still doing my normal activities with my crew. After 2 years, with my knowlege of installations and estimating, I transitioned from lead installer to lead estimator where I would travel to potential customers and give them a price estimation of particular jobs that they wanted completed. During these 5 years I was also exposed to and taught deck building, siding, soffit, facia, and gutter installations, and various other areas of construction.

After serving a 2 year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, my former manager called my to come back and work for him as I did before lerving a mission. He started me right where I had left off 2 years earlier, with service coordinator and salesman. I became more well rounded in the differnt tasks in the shop and the showroom becomeing a better leader of co-workers, and better with customer interaction and teaching/informing.

Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida Area

My decision to serve a volunteer 2 year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints took me away from Utah to Florida. I was not paid or forced to perform this service mission. I was paired with another missionary as a companionship to find and teach individuals interested in learning about our church. During these 2 years I was sent (by a mission leader) to 7 different areas along the western coast of Florida. In these areas my fellow missionaries and I would teach and provide service to members and strangers alike. During the 2 years I was given responsibility of a senior companion, trainer, and district leader where I was in charge of 3-4 companionships (6-9 missionaries). We had a strict schedule and obligations to follow in order to maximize our efforts and better ourselves as individuals, leaders, and teachers in the service of others. This opportunity taught me to care for the benefit and welfare of others and taught me that those around us need help and that there is always opportunities for service, however large or small.

I started as a tire technician where I learned how to safely repalce tires and install new wheeles on customers vehicles that they purchased and performed these tasks. I did strictly this for a year, after which I became a crew leader where I was incharge of managing and running a crew of 4 tire technicians. After doing this for a year, I was promoted to service coordinator where my responsibilities were to keep the 3-4 crews moving by keeping work available for them to do and to make sure the shop kept moving swiftly and efficiently. During this time I was introduced to the selling of product to customers. I learned the computer system, product knowlege, and safe product applications to be able to provide the customer with the best experience possible to encourage customer satisfaction and repeat business.
