I am part of a team that manage a group of multi-skilled engineers undertaking works both through major developer contracts and private works. I arrange appointments for the engineers, quote for works and manage purchasing of parts and other contractors as required. One of the main parts of my role is to assist in the adoption of new technologies to stream line the business.

I am currently a BSAC sports diver working towards my BSAC Dive Leader, taking novice divers on some of their first sea divers and improving my dive skills and experience. I have also planned dives and performed briefs to staff and other students. Passing on what I have learnt so they can enjoy their dives safely.

I am a volunteer diver, I feed the fish in Atlantic reef tank. I clean the windows and perform other underwater maintenance. When I am Dive supervisor I am responsible for the safety of the divers in the tank and ensuring the dive codes and regulations are obeyed.

As a volunteer I have been working on several projects :1. Performing changes to the formatting of transcriptions of letter to and from Charles Darwin and Alfred Wallace for the up coming website. I have also done the same for some private letters by Wallace in the Wallace Correspondence Project.2. I have been cropping and editing pictures of the original field note books used by Wallace on his travels. Both tasks for this website : http://wallacefund.info/wallace100 and http://wallaceletters.info/3. I also sorted a collection of cockroaches from an expedition to Madagascar into morpho-species and transferring them from a mixed pin board to an organised display board with them grouped into each species. Using basic taxonomy skills.4. My last task was to sort through about 2000 pictures of the cockroaches in the main collection and re-label the images. The file name needed to show information about the organism ie. The name and data of description, the current species name and the organisms unique reference number. This was all linked with a data base. I then had to check all the images against the collection itself before the pictures and data went live on to this site : http://blattodea.speciesfile.org/HomePage.aspx, I had to do some problem solving including finding missing individuals and mislabelled Holotypes. The key skills I have gained and developed are : • Practice working in a professional working scientific environment • Improved used of Word, Excel, Photoshop, Advanced word find replace • Pinning of insects to NHM display standard • Practice of taxonomy skills • An understanding of collection management and skills associated with it• An understanding of IPM ( Integrated Pest Management) and its implications.• Working without direct supervision and as part of a group• An appreciation of the importance of good record keeping

I aided with a PhD project analysing sea grass blades looking at the microfaunal epifauna. This involved recording and identifying the organisms present using a microscope. Stacey has since been awarded a PhD

Working in a large kitchen with many staff. Duties range from cooking of food, making sauces, serving hot food in front of customers, pot wash, cleaning tables, cooking fried food for a take away section, serving on tills in both an eat in and take away section, running BBQ and also operating an alcohol cart with beer on tap, organising fridges and maintaining a high level of food hygiene in the high risk environment with young children, pregnant adults and elderly guests. Taking the role of Team leader for several days, while the main team leader took his holiday.
