The two friends met at Bethlehem Steel Corp and went on to hold senior management positions with steel companies including Armco Steel and Republic Steel before forming Effective Marketing Solutions, Inc. With a focus on long and flat rolled products the EMS sales team shares an extensive background with unrivaled experience in field sales and product management. The company has enjoyed double-digit growth by satisfying clients and customers, and adding new products and personnel as opportunities are developed. SBQ sales for Engineered Bar Products Division of Steel Dynamics, Inc. Coverage includes Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey (Northeast) and Ontario Canada. Founded in 1993, Steel Dynamics, Inc. is one of the largest domestic steel producers and metals recyclers in the United States based on estimated annual steelmaking and metals recycling capability, with annual revenues of $8.8 billion in 2014, over 7,700 employees, and manufacturing facilities primarily located throughout the United States (including six steel mills, eight steel processing facilities, two iron production facilities, over 90 metals recycling locations and six steel fabrication plants).Our steelmaking operations consist of mills, producing steel from steel scrap using electric arc furnaces, continuous casting, automated rolling mills, and downstream finishing facilities. This segment accounts for over 60% of the company’s external net sales. The steel products we manufacture include high quality sheet and long products, and are used in a wide variety of end markets, such as automotive, construction, manufacturing and energy.The Engineered Bar Products Division produces special-bar quality (SBQ) bars. Typically they are of high-strength carbon or alloy steel that is custom-formulated to meet specific customer design criteria. Engineered bars are sometimes referred to as “specialty bars.” In 2014, our smaller diameter rolling mill expansion was fully commissioned. The completion of the expansion increased the mill's capacity to produce an additional 325,000 tons, while also expanding the mill's product offering into high-quality small diameter (1-inch to 3-inch) precision SBQ bars. We produce standard lengths and a wide range of grades of high-quality round bars having diameters from 1 inch to 9 inches.

Central Plains

The Structural and Rail Division became a prime source of high-quality steel products in 2002, and has since grown into SDI's second-largest operation. Initially focused on production of wide-flange beams, this division has adapted to customer needs by also offering a variety of railway products.Our structural steel mill produces a variety of parallel flange sections such as Wide Flange beams, American Standard Beams, Manufactured Housing Beams, H Piling and Channel sections for the construction, transportation and industrial machinery markets. We offer these products in standard lengths, but also can cut sections to custom lengths.

Our facility was known as Kentucky Electric Steel until September 2018, when we were purchased by Steel Dynamics, Inc. Steel Dynamics, Inc. (SDI) is one of the largest, most efficient, domestic steel producer and metal recycler in the United States. Today, we are SWVA Kentucky LLC, part of SDI's Steel of West Virginia ("SWVA") operations just 20 miles outside of Ashland.SWVA is pleased with the product diversification that the Kentucky acquisition has provided through the addition of flats and specialty alloy bars. As our company moves forward under the name SWVA Kentucky LLC, we continue to uphold our long history of delivering quality products and value to our customers. This gives SWVA Kentucky, LLC the ability to produce more grades than ever before.Previous ownership: Kentucky Electric Steel owns and operates a steel mini-mill near Ashland, Kentucky.As a mini-mill producer of bar flats that are produced to a variety of specifications and fall primarily into two general quality levels: merchant bar quality steel bar flats (“MBQ Bar Flats”) for generic types of applications, and special bar quality steel bar flats (“SBQ Bar Flats”), where more precise customer specifications require the use of various alloys, customized equipment and special production procedures to insure that the finished product meets critical end-use performance characteristics.
