Left the role following redundancy after the publication ceased production.- Covered a multitude of stories across a number of areas for the weekly publication including an interview with the Wolfson History Prize winner, council planning developments and the future of railway amid ongoing national rail strikes and fare increases.- Created strong relationships and contacts within the local area including various businesses, community groups, council members and local MP.- Gained further digital experience through volunteering to manage the newspaper’s social media accounts and weekly newsletter. - Appointed the new role of sports editor and wrote up the double page spread for four editions of the newspaper alongside my other responsibilities, before production stopped.

- Key responsibilities included liaising with key staff and students about improving the placement programme and providing peer-to-peer support for students considering a placement year. - Assisted and hosted several events for students including the Introduction to Placements session, Find & Apply session and MAH Placement Experience Panel event.

During this role, I successfully wrote 40+ articles across twenty issues of the Hastings Independent Press newspaper. I gained useful editorial experience through my brief time as the section editor of the listings and community pages of the paper. Finally, as social media editor and writer of the weekly online newsletter I developed my digital skills and adapted my writing to appropriately fit different online news mediums.
