The Fair Neuroimaging Lab is a high-output research lab primarily focused on differences in resting state functional connectivity (as measuring by fMRI) for pediatric patients with ADHD and ASD, headed by Damien Fair, PA-C, PhD. I work with Dr. Fair and Jeff Eriksen, PhD, on a project which seeks to derive functional connectivity data from resting state EEG. A successful approach would mean that data on brain connectivity could be obtained at a fraction of the cost of current methods (i.e., fMRI), making clinically useful data much more accessible for patients with and without clinical diagnoses.

Continuing research begun with URSI over the summer investigating pedagogical interventions in physics education, with an emphasis on the benefits of metacognition, contemplative practice, and technology-enhanced learning.

I worked with a professor in the physics department at Vassar on an interdisciplinary project researching the importance of metacognition in physics problem solving. We're interested metacognition and problem solving as neuropsychological phenomena, as well as the aspects of physics that make it uniquely difficult to learn. Research shows that metacognition is domain-general and teachable, and that physics problem solving is uniquely amenable to the benefits that metacognitive training provides.Most important for our project, however, is finding evidence that can be directed implemented in physics classrooms to improve (what are currently lackluster) outcomes in university-level introductory physics classes.
