In this dynamic role, I have contributed significantly to a multi-site hospital digital transformation project—from its inception to the impending go-live of our MediTech system. I have been heavily involved in initial process mapping, future state processes and the build and design. As junior clinical lead, I am currently spearheading an innovative new digital handover tool for our medical team, aiming to improve communication and patient care transitions. Additionally, I have been instrumental in IT inductions for new doctors over the past 2 years, culminating in the creation of a new digital induction program, complete with guide videos for various software applications.

At Macclesfield Hospital, I play a vibrant and multifaceted role, leveraging my managerial skills to support the well-being of my colleagues while driving positive change within the organisation: - Doctors’ Mess President: As the Doctors’ Mess President, I lead and represent our medical community. This role involves leading a small team, managing a large budget, fostering camaraderie, addressing concerns, and ensuring a supportive environment for all doctors. - Junior Doctor Representative (Local Negotiating Committee): I proudly serve as the voice of junior doctors on the Local Negotiating Committee (LNC). In this capacity, I advocate for fair working conditions, equitable policies, and collaborative decision-making. I work with numerous stakeholders, the hospital chief executive and clinicians throughout the trust to help achieve balanced and constructive outcomes. - Quality of Life Improvements: My commitment extends beyond administrative roles. I actively seek out opportunities to enhance the daily experiences of patients and staff. Whether it’s streamlining processes or creating a more comfortable environment on the wards, I’m dedicated to these small but impactful changes.

During my two-year foundation training, I rotated through various specialties at a relatively small district general hospital. Working in such an environment demands rapid adaptation and a level of responsibility beyond what many doctors at the same training level experience. Despite the steep learning curve, this training has provided me with invaluable experience. My four-month rotations covered Endocrinology & diabetes mellitus, General surgery (F1 & F2), Acute internal medicine, Respiratory medicine, and General Practice. Additionally, I spent time working in the local hospice as part of my respiratory role, honing my attention to detail and communication skills.

In this role, I handled both emergency and non-emergency patient calls. Swiftly triaging each call, I directed urgent matters to the appropriate channels. Whether it was urgent medical problems, general queries, or prescription requests, I bridged communication gaps, providing timely assistance while safeguarding confidentiality.

This position involved booking appointments, both over the phone and in person, handling payments via cash, card, and cheque, and maintaining clear patient records, including organising letters, x-rays, and referrals. I also reconfigured a part of the IT system to streamline processes and improve overall productivity.
