Chartered Engineer, engaged in safety, risk assessment and risk management in the railway sector. Involved in the application of risk management approaches including qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, CBA, consequence and risk modelling, bow tie analysis, HAZOP and HAZID exercises, and Independent Safety Assessment.Member of the System Safety and Health directorate in RSSB and prior to that, in the Safety Risk Team in Network Rail, Safety & Compliance. In these two roles worked on advisory projects and studies to support risk based safety decision making in different areas of the GB rail industry – from strategic to operational levels. Most recently this has involved developing guidance on the European Common Safety Methods for Risk Assessment, and the latest version of the GB rail industry framework policy document "Taking Safe Decisions", as well as guidance on good practice in the use of bowtie analysis in the rail industry. Associate Membership of the Chartered Institution of Railway Operators.
