Hi everyone! I'm Ben Jacobs, a student at Vanderbilt University studying Economics and History with a minor in Data Science. I am interested in pursuing consulting, finance and law. I am especially interested in the intersection of the three!I grew up in Charlotte, NC and attended the largest public high school in the state. I spent my time out of the classroom playing baseball and competing in debate. As a result, what drives me most is self-improvement. I love to get better to not only ensure that I am always competitive in my endeavors but that I am supporting my team as best I can. I have been on teams my entire life in a variety of ways, and I am always striving to be the person that my teammates want by their side.At the Vanderbilt Career Center, I have communicated with thousands of companies digitally, providing recruitment insights. Additionally, I have interacted with data networks to improve efficiency across the board. This position has refined my research, communication and hospitality skills.In my experience leading the financial literacy nonprofit Tickets2TheFuture, I learned, in a micro-sense, what it is to manage a business. I got a thrill out of solving the smallest and the largest of problems. Through this experience, I learned the value of proper budget management, interpersonal management and professional communication.As a sales associate at the Pet Wants CLT company I experienced a much more specialized role. Here I learned the tricks and intricacies of turning a profit in a retail setting. This was eye opening for me because in my experience as a nonprofit executive, revenue was based on a moral incentive. However, in a retail setting, I learned how to cater to physical needs of a consumer, rather than emotional. This experience has provided me with valuable consumer insight and understanding of sales tactics and marketing.
