Responsible for time estimates, Bill of Materials, quotes, construction drawings, tailboard meetings, engineering review presentations, equipment selection, bids, and vendor selection.Substation Communications Engineering • Worked with Protection, Meter, Generation, Substation, SCADA, and Transmission Engineers to obtain requirements for necessary communication lines. • Designs included:o High Voltage Protection (HVP) - Worked with telecom companies to remedy old copper telecommunication lines into substations by constructing a Copper to Fiber Junction box outside of the Zone of Influence; the equipment was then powered over the Fiber from the Substation. o Substation rebuilds - These needed all new communication equipment including SONET, HVP, Point-to-Point Microwave, alarming, and Smart Grid network equipment.o TWACS – Cellular surveys, product selection, antenna placement, system design, and construction drawings for data from TWACS devices that read meters over power lines. Enterprise Technology Environmental Engineering • Worked with Technicians, Contractors, Washington State Patrol, Generation Engineers Facility Managers, and/or Electricians to install HVAC systems, DC Plants, and UPSs in remote microwave sites, offices, and dams. • Designs included: o DC Plants – Completed AC analysis of system via equipment calculations or a 30 day study. Found minimum required reserve time for equipment, added subpanels as necessary, completed construction drawings, made a Bill of Materials, and inspected all work done.o HVAC – Was responsible for replacing the aging existing Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) in Microwave Sites with a new split system, designing a control circuit for outside cooling, obtaining a bid from the contractor, quality inspections and redlines
