I have spent my career trying to make the world better for working people.As a nursing assistant, my coworkers and I organized a union and negotiated a contract at a long term care facility, where we often struggled to provide adequate care to large numbers of residents with minimal staff. From there, I went to law school and decided to devote my career to helping others secure a voice in their workplace too. I've helped workers win their unions in elections before the National Labor Relations Board and the Michigan Employment Relations Commission. I've handled labor arbitration and administrative hearings on contract interpretation issues, unjust terminations, and unfair labor practices. I've negotiated a number of collective bargaining agreements in the private and public sector, covering anywhere from 5 employees to 6,000 employees.I currently practice in house at the Michigan Nurses Association. I also teach courses in Labor Law and Legal Standards in a Global Workplace at the Michigan State University School of Human Resources and Labor Relations.When not practicing law or teaching, you will find me out running hills and trails, strength training, cross country skiing, writing fiction, hosting writing workshops, and spending time with my family.
