In the summer of 2021 I felt like I needed a spark. The pace of my race needed a change. That catalyst came in the form of an email from a trusted professor. He said that a group of professors were holding an information session that evening for those interested in getting in PhD. "More school!? Never." I thought to myself.Next thing I knew, I had cancelled the date I had planned for that night (with my future wife) and was at the information session. By the end of the hour, I had made a life-altering decision to pursue a PhD. Since that session, a lot has changed. I'm now a doctoral student in Management Information Systems at the University of Georgia. I conduct research on human-AI augmentation, cognition and human behavior in information systems, and IT executive leadership.The pace is now fast... very fast. I often face ambiguity and novel challenges, but I also get to create knowledge. It's humbling, and a privilege I don't take lightly.
