Hello! My name is Ben Demars. I am currently 20 years old. I'm attending university at Westfield State University in Westfield, Massachusetts, but I'm originally from Brunswick, Maine. I will be mostly in Massachusetts during the school year, but in Maine for the summer and winter breaks. I have had experience in several volunteering jobs. I have volunteered for, among other things, Midcoast Humane Society (Brunswick, ME), Curtis Memorial Library (Brunswick), and at my high school library (Brunswick). I have also worked two different paid jobs. The first was at Shaw's Supermarket in Brunswick, where I worked from 2018 to November of 2019. I mainly worked as a bagger in the front end, where I got lots of customer experience. I also assisted in cart retrieval, bottle redemption, and store cleaning, among other occasional odd jobs. I started working at Hannaford Supermarkets in Yarmouth, Maine, in March of 2020, shortly before the pandemic started. I worked on and off there through August of 2022. I worked as a Hannaford To Go shopper, which was somebody who walks around the store with a special cart, scanning items and putting them into bags, which customers then eventually pick up. I am currently unemployed, as I am still working on my degree, but I'm looking to take a part-time job while I'm doing so.In my Senior year of High School, I participated in an Extended Learning Opportunity, with help from the Maine DOT. With their help, I was able to track incoming and outgoing vehicles from my High School, and create a chart that showed the patterns of travel. I also did a traffic count of a busy intersection in Bath, Maine. Because of this ELO, I have been introduced to many pieces of planning equipment, plus I have a personal connection to the DOT.I have a quick wit and a logical mind, but you may need to spell things out for me sometimes. Other than that, I hope to work with your company soon!
