I was responsible for software development, testing, cloud infrastructure, IT, and security for our cloud-based Digital Asset Management (DAM) solution that powers the marketing efforts of 600+ prominent brands worldwide. As a former developer with the company I worked closely with development staff to drive our technical vision forward, always putting our customers and users front and center. Our culture of decentralization and trust in employees fostered a truly fantastic culture where everyone felt invested in the success of the company and took pride in what we did.

I was the software development manager for our flagship Digital Asset Management product, the Widen Collective, responsible for a team of software developers and quality assurance, following 10 years at the company as a software developer. In this role I was in charge of driving forward the technical vision for the product, budget, ensuring it was meeting the needs of the business and our user community, and that our services and code were written with robustness and security top of mind. I continued to write code alongside the team and work with the rest of the software group to ensure we were meeting a high standard of development.

Developed and provided technical leadership for our flagship Digital Asset Management product, the Media Collective. Over the many years I worked on this product, we increased our client count from the teens to several hundred mostly medium to large organizations such as Motorola, Cornell University, and Carnival Cruise Lines. My role specialized in search using various technologies that utilize Lucene under the covers (most recently elasticsearch), identifying and fixing system performance issues, and building out much of the core Java-based infrastructure our system relies upon and many reusable components such as a quick-loading search result display, category tree, table, palette, overlay, and more. I was involved in researching new technologies and finding ways to incorporate them into our environment and training developers on their use. I also assisted with interviewing candidates for development and testing positions at the company.

Developed for Widen's Digital Asset Management suite of applications primarily using the Java-based Tapestry web framework. Aside from the primary DAM product I also worked on a template-based media building application, a project collaboration tool, and a set of shared administrative functionality for all of the apps, as well as a client-specific catalog production system. For the latter I also wrote a migration app to transfer a large amount of data from the legacy system to the new Java-based system using lots of regular expressions and database queries.

This was a startup online budgeting service I co-founded with a friend. We closed it after I had twins and could not devote enough time to maintaining it on the side. Designed, developed, and maintained all software, managed all hardware resources, and assisted in marketing and managing the business. We had about 1,000 people sign up for the service over the 3 years it was available.

I worked in the group responsible for supporting Mattel's Oracle Financials suite worldwide. I developed initial concepts, functional specifications, and test plans and coordinated the migration of changes through development, test, and production environments. I also provided level 2 and 3 Help Desk support of the system to internal users. I was the administrator for our group's Sharepoint system and System Request Tracking, a homegrown defect tracking system.
