Supported the design and fabrication of the Lunar Environment heliospheric X-ray Imager (LEXI) in Summer 2019 with a focus on the prevention of external light pollution. This lunar based telescope is a part of NASA's Commercial Lunar Payload Services. Stipend awarded through the BU UROP Program.I also worked to utilize Ae9/Ap9 modeling software to estimate the radiation dosage LEXI expects to see on its trip from Earth to the Moon.

As a part of the Peer Teacher program at Hofstra University, I was offered this position (typically reserved for Juniors and Seniors) by Dr. Behailu Mammo. This was very similar to my position as a mathematics tutor, however it was narrowed by focusing only on Calculus I. I held a few study sessions for students and was required to answer any and all questions that may come up. This also meant completing all homework given to students on top of my already heavy course load. I developed stronger communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.

I was responsible for tutoring undergraduate college students in Linear Mathematics, Algebra I, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus I, and Calculus II. We were required to be able to answer any and all questions that students may have from any of these classes as we were their secondary source if they did not understand their professors. I continued to do private tutoring by myself throughout the summer as well.

In working with Dr. Christina Lacey in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, I started research by working on reducing data on NGC-6946, the Fireworks Galaxy. Using AIPS, my task was to verify what points were actual light sources from the galaxy (stars and dust) and what was just noise. I would then record the location, luminosity, etc. of the stars. Next, I moved on to the calibration of data obtained from taking images with the NRAO Very Large Array of M51-B. My task was to calibrate data in order to create images and then compile them to create a full image of the galaxy.
