Extensive experience using non-contact ultrasonic generation and detection with lasers to explore surface wave interaction with cracks in a Rail project. Successfully generated laser ultrasonic finite element method (FEM) models to explore further this interaction. Several exciting discoveries have been found during this work, such as angle dependence of near and far field effects, new mode converted waves and nonlinear enhancements, which I have presented at international conferences QNDE 2009, BINDT 2009, and LU2010. Published several first author peer reviewed papers, in addition to papers arising from collaboration with colleagues. I also have been a reviewer for the leading journals in my field.
