My time with Thames Valley Police was incredibly varied, challenging and rewarding. I joined the force through the Police Now National Graduate Leadership Programme and completed a 2-year attachment on a Neighbourhood Policing Team. This involved a range of problem-solving work within the community through leading multi-agency collaboration and community engagement. Alongside this, I completed a PGDip course in Professional Policing Practice with Huddersfield University and achieved a distinction. After completing this programme, I moved to Incident and Crime Response which involved responding and dealing with a vast range of fast-paced incidents.Whilst working in both teams I individually managed a caseload of active investigations which required a thorough and methodical approach. I would then submit detailed case files to the Crown Prosecution Service, making sure to meet relevant deadlines. I would do this alongside dealing with live incidents and would be required to meticulously prioritise and manage a high work-load. During my time with the force, I was successful in taking many cases through to court, and I had to attend trials as/when necessary. Throughout the 3 years I was required to communicate with victims, suspects and witnesses in a vast range of challenging and high pressure situations. I was also required to communicate well with my team and make sure we were supporting each other in dealing with incidents in a professional and safe manner, whilst meeting organisational policies/processes and legal requirements e.g. GDPR.
