I’ve been working in the media industry one way or another for nearly twenty years. Starting in direct sales, I’ve managed agencies for media owners, headed sales teams, planned media campaigns in agency and worked client side in creation and delivery.Marketing and sales are closely aligned for good reason; the ultimate purpose of both is to generate revenue growth for the business. But it’s not always that simple.Much of my career has been spent problem solving. I enjoy it. Looking at how things currently work and seeing if they can be improved. Currently I work on how to resolve client problems through positioning and effective communications.Throughout my work life, most problems essentially have worked their way back to three key questions:Who are we going to talk to? What are we going to say to them? How do we connect with them?If I answer these three questions effectively then work tends to get a lot better for me.
