As part of my university placement year I worked as a sustainability analyst for JLL in their Upstream (sustainability) team in London. - I Produced quarterly reports for investment fund clients on the sustainable performance of their real estate (including CRC and GRESB).- Worked alongside building facilities managers and other members of my team, making use of good communication skills to understand the reasons behind a building's performance.- Analysed large datasets using Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, INDEXMATCH, Pivot Tables) and online databases.- Streamlined the existing reporting process by developing improved tools for data analysis. This included using Microsoft Excel to automatically generate KPI’s based on imported raw data.- Presented results to members of my team as well as fund managers, enabling me to deal directly with queries and provide further insight into my reports. The role enabled me to build upon many skills, including my analytical, teamwork and communication skills. High levels of attention to detail were required to ensure that the correct figures were produced for the reports. I was able to gain a real understanding of what is involved and required when working in a corporate environment.

During my gap year I worked in Courchevel (French Alps) as a chalet host for the winter ski season. We had new guests every week and my responsibilities included preparing and serving a daily breakfast and four-course evening meal, cleaning rooms/en suites and washing sheets for four chalets every weekend.

At the start of my gap year I spent three months working in John Lewis, as a selling assistant across the whole shop. As well as supporting customers with expert information the role extended to training new sales assistants. During this time I learnt a lot about customer service, which has helped me in the jobs I have had since.
