I am an Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 Teacher at Ames High School. In this role, I have worked with a variety of diverse students from a wide array of environments. By utilizing differentiation strategies, an inclusive and intentional instructional strategy, and simply a positive mindset each day I have worked to effectively teach the joy of mathematics to over 300 individual students. The best part of my work as a teacher is that I, alongside the students, am continuously learning and reflecting each and every day in order to continually improve my instructional strategies for both the whole class and for each individual student individually.

I coached for the category of Storytelling at Eden Prairie High School. I plan and maintain a weekly schedule of practices where I teach students various techniques of speech. This includes techniques such as writing, verbal communication, presentation, diction, and organization of thought.

I worked with students of all ages and tutored them in all areas of mathematics. In this role, I worked to adapt my teaching strategy and use differentiation techniques to most effectively communicate the ideas and principles of mathematics to my students.

In this role, I worked to coach students through various camps of STEM topics, including mathematics and Robotics. I adapted lessons each day to make learning this content fun and engaging for the students involved, as well as adapted my teaching strategy to create effective learning situations for all students. Along with this, I adapted the curriculum when problems arose to allow for a cohesive and fun experience for the students in their camps.

I worked to create, organize, and lead events for the church for children, youth, and families. I used many different positions and tasks to motivate, teach, and serve children to the best of my ability with minimum supervision. I served for a week as an adult leader on a mission trip and led a group of 6 students during their daily service projects. I also wrote and delivered a sermon for the congregation at the end of my internship.

At Inspiration Point I served as a Role Model for children and young adults varying in age from 1st to 12th grade. These students came from a diverse set of backgrounds and I motivated, taught, and served them in a variety of different roles for three summers. Some of my tasks were to prepare and lead daily Bible studies as well as planning and leading Day Camps for different churches. This required discipline by working independently with minimal supervision most days, as well as flexibility with changes that occur on a week-to-week basis.

I assisted a graduate student as he worked on his thesis for graduation. This used multidisciplinary optimization to study the thrust oscillation that occurred during the launch of the Ares 1-X rocket. I presented at the Undergraduate Research Symposium and created a poster for the Honors Poster Presentation at Iowa State University.
