I was freelancing for some of the capitals largest crewing companies as a senior crew chief on site this helped me secure roles as a production manager on site for a variety of events and site manager for some Olympic sites, during 2012. These roles have allowed me to work within some unique locations, such as, Sicily, Moscow, Royal Parks and Palaces as well as working alongside some high-profile clients. The events industry can be a high-pressure environment where large volumes of work need to be carried out within tight turnarounds. A can-do attitude as well as the ability to problem solve and make changes on the fly are essential. Key roles include:- Training and developing crew, reporting performance to head office, client liaison and maintaining a good client relationship on behalf of the business, obtaining new business either through contacts or opportunities on site, disciplining and inducting crew and being the crew manager on site enforcing all requirements and expectations of the business.- As a Production Manager I have overseen builds and breakdowns on various events. This role includes being the point of contact for all heads of departments, being principle contact to the venue and adhering to their rules and regulations, making sure the schedule is being kept to, liaising with the Production Company’s client on site and keeping them happy and informed as well as problem solving with the relevant people and making that all important call if changes are needed. - Site Managing duties include; managing the site and production crew, organising and taking deliveries on site, working alongside the Production Company to produce a schedule of works, delivering that schedule of works and signing off the site to be ready for use and adhering to Health and Safety regulations.
