    - Led ATHENA radio prototyping effort. Designed the radio architecture. Selected anddeveloped fixed point models for communications algorithms (MATLAB/C++). Developednumerous components (VHDL). Tested prototype implementation testing in simulation(Modelsim). Tested implementation in hardware (Virtex 7 FPGA) and matched achievedperformance against theoretical model. Developed GUI for demo (Python/GTK). - Developed a real-time distributed simulation of the ATHENA waveform using theCORE/EMANE platform (C++, Linux, LXC, Quagga, TCP/IP). Developed and integratedapplications to run over the simulated network (Perl, Python, bash). Developeddemonstration using this testbed -- this demo had a significant impact on the project’sperception by the DoD community. - Architected a modular framework in C++ for waveform link layer model development tomaximize code reuse between different simulation environments. Framework adopted byseveral other projects for their implementation. Framework ported to Linux to allow sharedcode between simulated environments and prototype implementations. - Designed and implemented a high fidelity interference model (C/C++) for real-time/discreteevent simulation of wireless network performance. This model was eventually incorporatedin at least 4 other projects to enhance the accuracy of their simulations. Developed a furtheradaptation for multi-beam directional communications systems.

    - Wrote SNMP-based remote configuration utility (C++/GTK) for a line of ADTRAN’s mini-DSLAM products. Added or enhanced several features in our mini-DSLAM products such asadvanced alarm logging, configurable user accounts, and support for an internal modem.- Modified and ran tests on DSLAMs, routers, and switches. Discovered a severe software bugnot detected by standard tests.
