Creating new product ideas to deliver against Beverage Category seasonal briefs. Leading on all development aspects: product research, idea generation, prototyping, recipe optimization etc. Owning technical relationship with suppliers. Supporting commercialisation process.

Discovery and development of novel lipid technologies to deliver against business growth, cost and nutrition targets. Technical strategy development and alignment. Lead on lab and pilot-scale trials for various projects related to improved nutrition, product stability and spec harmonisation. Manage small team of product scientists. Develop relationships with academic experts.

Responsible for strategy and implementation of a global agricultural innovation programme with the overarching aim to develop and validate new farming systems and technologies to increase cocoa yield and quality from Mondelēz International ‘Cocoa Life’ farms. Building collaborative partnerships with cocoa research institutions and commercial agricultural companies in Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Indonesia, Brazil and India. Coordinating program implementation through a global team of technical experts and project leaders. Strategy alignment with internal stakeholders within R&D, Procurement and Sustainability functions. Significant on-the-ground experience in West Africa, Brazil, India and Indonesia. Also a member of the Mondelez expert cocoa-tasting panel.

Dual role split between agri-development and ingredient technology. Supporting the establishment of the Mondelēz Cocoa Agri-Research program from its inception in 2011. Developing relationships with cocoa research institutions across cocoa origins (notably Brazil, India and Ghana). Supporting strategy development and establishing several of the first research projects, including: farm rejuvenation trials in Bahia, Brazil; high-density planting trials in Tamil Nadu, India; cocoa yield-mapping farm survey in Ghana and Indonesia; design and specification of an innovative cocoa concept farm for implementation in Indonesia. In a parallel, co-managed (with Procurement) the implementation of a flexible cocoa sourcing strategy via in-factory validation of cocoa bean blends.

Discovery and development of technologies to drive cost efficiencies and reduce energy consumption in chocolate processing. Leading on technology validation via lab, pilot and factory trials. Also supporting Procurement function with cocoa quality and spec harmonisation work.

Three 9-month placements in R&D in Slough, UK and Veghel, Netherlands working on Product Development and Science & Technology projects. Developing new chocolate formulations for Galaxy and Seeds of Change Organic brands. Developing disruptive future product concepts for Mars Bar. Supporting Procurement function with trials related to cocoa quality and spec harmonisation.
