As a young adult, I have not yet had a full-time job. However, I have had two part-time jobs whilst managing A Levels and first year University work. The Arium, Thorner, Leeds, was where I found my first part-time job. Here I prepared food and drinks for customers as well as serving their requirements at the till. This meant collecting food deliveries from suppliers, ensuring the full delivery had been made for the amount of expected customers, storing the food and drink appropriately in fridges and freezers given type of food and expiration date to provide the freshest products to our customers. This job also saw me cleaning plates and cutlery as well as many surfaces with harsh chemicals which required sufficient training and preparation to handle. I also found myself on the till being responsible for all of the customers orders as well as the money received and distributed in the till itself. I gained around 2 years of experience from The Arium. During my first year at university, I found a job at Hollister where I have worked for almost a year now. This has been challenging due to COVID-19, often leaving the store in undesirable situations, such as, more or less customers than expected. Yet, I believe this lead me to become a better employee as during busy periods this meant I was forced to be efficient and make quick solutions to many problems, as well as pushing me to stay busy during the quieter periods of the days. Here I gained more experience on the till serving customers as well as a lot of shop-front experience, talking to customers as they entered the shop and making them feel welcome whilst aiding them with any queries they may have about Hollister products both in store and out.I also have work experience in multiple vets practices. Holly House Vets Practice was where I Volunteered and did most of my work experience. Here I took on many challenging and very important roles making sure I provided the best care for the patients I could. These roles included helping take bloods of animals, centrifuging and testing blood samples to identify any illnesses the patients may have had. Again I was trusted with harsh cleaning chemicals, due to the high infection rates at the veterinary centre, and to complete my role in cleaning many surfaces which otherwise allow the spread of diseases or other illnesses between patients. This was a huge responsibility for me especially at such a young age of only 16-17. I believe this has aided my maturity and responsibility throughout all of my work that has followed.
