I set up and now manage a learning hub (internal alternative provision unit), with the help of my senior leadership superior. The main objective in the learning hub is to re-engage young people in the learning process by placing them in an alternative setting, providing support to ensure a smooth return to the classroom. Strategies I use along with my team areto help remove barriers that prevent pupils achieving their full potential in the mainstream setting;Learners are able to study in a calm and quiet environment with lots of support.Subject teachers provide appropriately set/differentiated work, to enable a smooth transition back into the classroom.Parent/Carer's regularly updated on progress to promote a good home-school partnership.Highlight any missed areas in learning, identify and provide a suitable intervention to bridge the gap.Learners work at a pace they are comfortable with, this ensures a full understanding also removes the pressures and pace that's set in the classroom setting.Timetable is progressively increased through pupil/teacher/social worker/pastoral team agreement.Full support given to aid the pupil in stepping back into class, this is then gradually withdrawn to prevent relapse. Provide support during unstructured time.Reduced timetable's are offered to alleviate the stress and anxiety posed on a pupil's SEMH that a full timetable can bring to vulnerable learners; this is then increased over time.Reduced hours (partial timetable) in school to redevelop the routine of coming back to school.

Plan and teach a VCERT NCFE Food and Cookery level 1/2 course 6 times a week to a group of 12 year 11 SEN pupils with a range of complex learning needs and difficulties, also directing a support assistant to ensure that pupils get the maximum benefit from my lessons. This is done alongside my other role in school with no extra time for planning, I therefore need to ensure I use my time effectively and efficiently.

Keen sportsman playing Football for the Corps and a local team when in Germany in a semi-professional capacity, Rugby and Boxing for the Regiment and Badminton, where his team won the Brigade and Corps championships within Germany. This has served to develop his teamwork skills and to maintain his fitness at a high level. A member of the Royal Logistic Corps, LCpl Lancaster deployed on four Operational Tours including Operation TELIC 7 (Iraq), two tours of Operation BANNER (Northern Ireland) and Operation HERRICK 7 (Afghanistan), responsible for administering both first and second line accounts, sometimes solely responsible, throughout each operation. Remaining on tight timelines, under constant pressure, minimal resources with an interruptible supply chain put LCpl Lancaster under immense strain, but his dependable character came through completing all tasks set.
