Good day, my name is Benjamin.As I major in English, I have an aptitude for research, analysis and creative writing. My time studying English literature has exposed me to a variety of views and critical discourse, granting me the skills to think flexibly and communicate and construct careful and concise arguments.Despite being introverted, I am steadfast in working and collaborating with my colleagues and partners when the situation calls, and have the patience and tenacity to persevere even in trying situations. During my volunteering with Youth Corps Singapore, I engaged seniors in Digital Learning Circles to teach them basic digital literacy despite a language barrier, and I also was questioned about topics beyond the curriculum; with preplanning and memorising common mother tongue phrases, I was able to overcome difficulties and partake in fruitful conversation with the seniors. My interests in writing and drawing have led me to engage in activities to hone my skills when I see I am lacking in certain areas. As such, I am committed to seeing projects through and taking the initiative to push them forward to gain experience, applying this attitude in my work such as when I designed the collaterals and writing copy for the Singapore Book Council’s June Holiday programme social media marketing, as well as charting out the media plan for its implementation. Co-workers and classmates have described me as diligent and enthusiastic to engage with in discussing and giving feedback on ideas and projects.In my down time, I like to take walks to soak in my neighbourhood’s atmosphere and write about the various things and people I observe. Reading and learning of obscure facts is something I also find joy in.
