Hello, my name is Ben Mitsch and welcome to my professional story board. I am an Officer in the U.S. Army and graduate of Miami University. In Spring 2023, I graduated with a Master's and Bachelor's of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor's of Sciences in Finance. My Master's Thesis studied the implications of a country's economic magnitude on their utilization of and response to economic sanctions under their trade policy strategy and behavioral model.Throughout my academic career, I always liked to consider myself a hard-worker, routinely taking 22+ credit hours per semester. At Miami University and in my broader community, I held leadership positions in several organizations and am committed to bettering and expanding each organization. Needless to say, I like to stay busy and work hard towards bettering myself and the organizations I participate in. I do so by bringing a variety of soft and hard skills that range between ethical leadership values and formulating complex financial models in Microsoft Excel.While Army ROTC often occupied my summers and left little room for professional internships, I pursued any opportunity I could on-campus and off-campus to further enrich myself. At Advanced Camp for ROTC, I learned how to lead a diverse group of soldiers under adverse and fluid situations. Further, I gained basic soldiering and tactical knowledge and was awarded the RECONDO award for top marks in my class. On-campus, I led our chapter of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics as the Treasurer. I managed funds of up to $20,000 and applied them strategically towards our competitive drone racing and rocket-building teams. Finally, as Executive Vice President for Alpha Kappa Psi Capital, the student managed investment fund, I carefully evaluated our current portfolio's risk and prospective positions to determine whether they best fit our risk model.In my free time, I enjoy diving into a good book. I will read just about anything, but find the greatest solace in books about astrophysics, cosmology, economics, finance, history, and political theory. A great biography or autobiography routinely works its way in the rotation as well! I have always prioritized my personal fitness and enjoy researching the most effective and science-based ways to stay fit.Thank you for your time and feel free to connect and reach out!
