The QA Supervisor, plans, directs and coordinates the FDA lab, formulating laboratory policies and procedures to Company Quality Assurance programs. Establishes work priorities and schedules departmental work for Microbiologists and lab technicians.Supervises laboratory team members, communicating work expectations, developing new skills and conducting semi-annual and annual performance reviews.Analyzes and interprets quality control test reports to validate or indicate deviations from Company or customer standards.Performs microbiological and chemical analysis on raw, in-process and finished products and the production environment.Updates laboratory systems and policies to support quality initiatives and programs.Manages time and resources for laboratory projects and technical support activities.Assures that calibrations are maintained on all laboratory equipment.Collaborates with R&D in supporting product development activities within the laboratory.Coordinates third party laboratory analysis upon customer request.Accompanies regulatory/customer/3rd-party inspectors at local facilities.Complies with all company Safety, HACCP and GMP policiesImmediately reports any food safety or quality issues to management or other individual authorized to initiate action.

I perform microbiological analysis on raw materials, in process and finished food products, as well as environmental samples in a fast – paced environment. Evaluate test results and document deviations from company or customer standards.Interpret test results and provide recommendations to Operations & Research and Development for progressive and continuous improvement.As a member of QA and various cross-functional teams I investigate and proactively address quality concerns.Mentors and coaches Lab Technicians on micro techniques and Good Laboratory Practices. In this position, Ialso have the opportunity to assist in the development of microbiological methods, procedures and validation techniques and I hope to soon obtain my Milk, Food and Water Lab Certification through the WDATCP.

As a technician II some of my responsibilities include the interpretation and implementation of study protocols, coordination with study direction, study toxicologists, ECG specialists and the clients in the execution of multiple ongoing toxicological studies, the collection of pertinent data for pharmaceutical research, working closely with staff veterinarians and ECG and echocardiogram specialists (from on-site and off-site) on study specific procedures, participation in study meetings, constant adaptation to new challenges, ensuring studies comply with essential SOPs and GLPs, and maintaining well documented and organized study files.
