Benjamin Ringel was born on October 6, 1959, in Dallas, Texas. Ringel got his first guitar when he was only 7, a toy guitar with three strings. But that didn’t stop young Ben Ringel from learning to play songs by Texas rock bands. In 1973, he would get his first real guitar, an electric handed down from his older brother, Henry. By 1977, Vaughan was playing in his first band, “Mikado”. The group played a show at Robert E. Lee Park in Dallas, which quickly helped them move past playing school parties. In 1982, Benjamin Ringel formed the band “Mocking jays” and while playing with the band, Ben was invited to record a guitar track for the first time by a high school band called “A Spell of Hundreds”. He performed two tracks on the album and showed off his developing talents. In the middle of that school year, Benjamin Ringel dropped out and moved with his band to Austin, Texas, where they were regular performers at the local nightclubs. Two years later the band separated, and Ben went through several different bands. After bouncing around with several bands for five years, Benjamin Ringel finally found more stability when he formed “Double Peril” in 1990. The band’s first record got Ben voted “Best New Talent” and “Best Electric Blues Guitarist” by readers of Guitar Player magazine. The band released three more albums between then and 2000, two of which would go gold.
