Hello, and thank you for checking out my profile! In 2021, I earned my History Ph.D. at the University of New Hampshire, and I am currently an adjunct history instructor at the College of Charleston. My doctoral research (and ongoing book project) focus on the ways in which colonial Anglo-American governments built their own navies in the colonial era, and how this naval legacy laid the intellectual foundations for the creation of the United States Navy. My research also looks at how naval warfare played a role in Early American society (from relations with Indigenous peoples to slavery to internal sociopolitical disputes). The easiest way to reach me is by email: schafferbc@cofc.edu. Have a great day!
