Specialty Services Associate, Curbside
East Syracuse, New York, United States
Single full-time curbside associate, and point-person responsible for releasing and delivering curbside orders (as many as 20+ in a row), while observing COVID precautions to keep customers safe. Assisted customers with in-store pickup. Helped customers find products, and connected them with appropriate department associates when more help was needed. Coordinated with other departments as necessary. - Worked with management to improve store-wide order handling, reducing average curbside delivery time from 15+ minutes to 5-10, or less. Small orders were typically instant. - Coordinated with fulfillment, receiving, lumber, and lot attendants on large / heavy orders needing special handling or forklifts. - Verified high volume of special orders being sent up from receiving daily, staged them in sensible locations (while checking for missing product / partial status / damage), resulting in a significant reduction in customers receiving damaged or partial orders. - Checked order shelves for orders that were incompletely released or incorrectly staged, resulting in increased satisfaction, reduced customer wait time, and decreased incidence of partial order pickup. - Designed a "Hand-Tag Order" sheet to track orders unable to be staged in the system, saving 15-45+ minutes per averted problem order, and saved customers repeat trips. - Taught self and others how to use legacy order app to coax last stage location / order details for “completed orders” where customers hadn't received everything, saving 15-45+ minutes per averted problem order, and saved customers repeat trips. - Kept racetrack in front of service desk clear of customer returns, and helped departments on reshop. - Trained associates on curbside and order fulfillment responsibilities and best practices. - Worked with fulfillment on complex, high priority orders when short-staffed. 2 “Associate of the Month” awards (September, January), 10 Homer awards (Gold Level), 2 wage increases.
